Tom Weatherly is the founder and owner of Boulder Edge. An environmental scientist and engineer for over 35 years, his entrepreneurial spirit began well before that, with a first business printing and selling t-shirts that started in high school and continued into his college years. He went on to graduate from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Environmental Science.
Tom served for six years as a US Naval officer at the Flight Training Command at NAS Pensacola and NAS Kingsville, as well as aboard the USS Nimitz on deployment. Afterwards, he managed environmental investigation and remediation projects at SAIC/Leidos, before serving as Regional Office Manager at an environmental engineering company in Reston, VA.
Mark Kidwell is Boulder Edge’s field operations manager, and joined the Boulder Edge team in May 2020. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a B.S. in technology and management. His diverse background includes six years with the US Navy; serving as an aircraft mechanic specializing in environmental control systems and safety equipment; and technical operations with the US government intelligence community, which sent him to 84 countries. He also served on tours in Europe and Antarctica with Operation Deep Freeze, and upon retirement, worked for JSI Telecom in Iraq, before transitioning to become a certified home inspector.
More recently, Mark sought a new path as an ESL teacher abroad, and moved to Thailand to pursue this dream. Unfortunately, this intersected with the pandemic in 2020, so he returned to the US and pursued radon education and certification. This led him to a new chapter with the Boulder Edge team. Mark enjoys interacting with customers from all walks of life and nationalities, and finds radon mitigation a rewarding way to address a health issue that affects everyone.
